Registration required for all classes. FAMILY HISTORY FOR BEGINNERS: TRACING YOUR ANCESTORS FROM AMERICA TO THE OLD COUNTRY
This two-part class will give you the basics for tracing your ancestors. You will learn about census records, vital records, citizenship records and immigration records, and get tips for finding them on the Internet. The first class will focus on your ancestors' lives in America; the second class will show you how to follow your ancestors back to the old country, with an emphasis on Czech and Slovak heritage. About the instructor: Jay Fonkert is a board-certified genealogist, genealogical educator and writer. A member of Czech and Slovak Minnesota, he is President of the Minnesota Genealogical Society and a director of the Association of Professional Genealogists.
